Meet the founder

Hi, I’m Georgie Tym

Leathersmith · Bag designer · Teacher

My passion for bag design and making has taken me from creating for established names including Nike, Jaguar, M&S and Cherchbi to founding my own leathercraft business.

My journey began at school and developed through my education at the London College of Fashion. Since then, my experience has included designing at Alfred Dunhill, lecturing at the London College of Fashion and working on design development for Hunter wellington boots.

In 2016, I founded Hands of Tym to share the magic of making. More than a decade into my career, I still love designing, crafting and teaching—working with beautiful leather as well as alternative materials, including vegan options.

Each Hands of Tym piece is uniquely and sustainably handmade in our Oxfordshire leather workshop. We choose premium materials, including buttery-soft Italian vegetable-tanned leather and consciously sourced metal fixings, so every piece is made to look beautiful and last.

Choosing Hands of Tym means forming a relationship with the maker. Our repair and restoration service helps well-loved leather goods live on for generations, while our courses and community keep practical leathercraft skills moving forward.

Learn at the Hands of Tym Academy in Banbury, Oxfordshire. Choose from Bag-in-a-Day workshops, intensive five-day pattern-cutting courses and one-to-one tuition in person or by Zoom.
